Healthcare Simulation

Hosted at Timiskaming District Secondary School, students were provided with education and demonstrations of the equipment and tools used within the profession by Timiskaming District Emergency Medical Services, Temiskaming Shores Fire Department, and Ontario Provincial Police.

The day encompassed a motor vehicle collision simulation scenario, allowing the opportunity for students to put into practice the knowledge and skills gained this year. The simulation consisted of a multiple-vehicle, multiple-patient collision and was conducted by students who filled the necessary roles within the scenario. Students, organized into specialized teams, provided patient care following the mock crash, with the assistance of paramedics who acted as coaches for the student teams. Students observed as firefighters provided extrication services using the Jaws of Life.

Students from the Information Communication Technology program at Timiskaming District Secondary School were in attendance to capture videos and photos of the event, with guidance and expertise provided to students by Temiskaming Printing staff.
