Intergenerational Day Canada

In just one example of intergenerational connections, students in a Cree language class attending École Secondaire Cochrane High School visited Cadence Residence in Cochrane to create keychains with instruction from Elders. Students learned about the Medicine Wheel, enjoyed frybread with jam, and a drum song was shared.

In Indigenous communities, Elders play an important role as knowledge keepers. Elders communicate guidance and teachings to younger generations, shaped by their life experiences and knowledge of tradition and culture.
